Like many others here, I've been a fan of "The Lost Boys" for years. I first saw it at eight years old (I'm thirty now), and it made such a huge and unique impression on me.
Now, my kids love it, and our guests often comment wistfully on the movie poster we have framed in the living room. That movie represented a great time in my childhood, and I am happy to share it with my kids now!
And I am happy now, to stumble upon this unique opportunity to have our voices (possibly) heard! So thanks for the interview, and here we go!

1. When "The Tribe" came out, my kids and I sat down excitedly to watch it. Needless to say, I sent them out of the room within the first 30 (ridiculous) seconds. I honestly don't mind swearing, but wow, it was so gratuitous and forced in "The Tribe" that I was immediately turned off. It wasn't edgy, gritty, or cool. It was stupid. I would love to see it toned down some---say to the level of the original?

2. The vamp gang in "The Tribe" were so shallowly one dimensional; they reminded me of the "extreme guys" in the original "Harold and Kumar". It was unintentionally hilarious. The constant hooting, cussing, and Xena like yells were beyond ridiculous. These guys were just unlikeable douches. (Can I say douche here? Not sure.) If a third installment gets made, can we make the vampires cool again? (Hint for filmmakers: Teens don't think people are automatically cool if they hoot and cuss a lot). "The Tribe" vampires were just so "EXTREME!"...and that silly trend was over a decade ago. (I mean really---the part where Shane hands Chris the skateboard as some kind of acceptance challenge was SO SILLY.) I would LOVE to see cool vampires. Slick. Sly. Sexy. Like say...the original?

3.Straight to DVD. For Lost Boys? REALLY? Why? Get a director/producer to really go for it, and give us a true sequel that at least "tries" to be on par with the original.

4. Good casting is a must. "The Tribe" was just very poorly cast. Not only were the vampires totally unlikeable, but the protagonists Chris and Nicole were unlikeable as well. The actors seemed to have to no love for what they were doing; it was hard to root for anyone, because there was no one to root for. In the original film, it was hard to root for anyone, because they were ALL so likable! The vamps? Awesome. Michael, Star, and Laddie? Awesome. Sam and the Frogg Brothers? Awesome. A good cast, even of unknowns, can create magic. Speaking of which...

5. ORIGINAL CAST parts/appearances. As many as you can get. Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander as the Frogg Brothers. They already said they'd do it, so don't mess it up you silly, greedy executives! And definitely Corey Haim as Sam---no excuses; dunk him in a tub of cold water and get him on set! How about Dianne Wiest---come back in a small role as Sam's mom? That'd be great. What about Jami Gertz and Chance Corbitt? Would they be willing to have part in this? Were any of them ever even asked or approached with the idea? Jason Patric and Kiefer would be terribly hard to get, and I understand that; but did anyone even try or ask? All I'm saying here is what the majority of fans are saying---we want a REAL sequel. A few of the originals back, and a storyline we can connect to...with characters we can connect to.

As for my very silly idea:

Grandpa has passed away, and Sam and his kids along with Sam's mom Lucy, come back to Santa Carla for the funeral. (Micheal would be nice, too, but that's probably wishful thinking). At the same time, Star is on her way back to Santa Carla because Laddie has got himself into trouble (drugs? the law? vampires?). The main story would center around two concepts; Sam's kids (who may be getting into something they shouldn't along with Laddie or perhaps because of him), and the relationship of the Frogg Brothers and Sam. What has happened all these years gone by? Why does Alan become a vampire? Is Sam a vampire because he failed to save his kids? Where does Edgar fit in?

Bah. Silly, I know, but I always thought you could flesh something like that out really well.

All in all...writers, directors, executives...please give the fans something they *WANT* for a change. Make us remember WHY it's so much fun to sleep all day, party all night, never grow old, and never die.

Oh, by the way.. I would also like to add! At the ending of The Tribe! When Edgar starts charging after Sam and him ready.. God! You can't just leave us hanging like that! "I'm warning you!" Gotta love that.. but yeah, that would be like a HUGE disappointment if that was the whole ending for the story and the movies.

And to let down thousands, maybe millions of fans of the movies? Is anybody willing to do that? I wouldn't. I wish I could be in vampire movies, and maybe someday, I or someone can fulfill my dream and be in one. Vampires are my specialty, after all. :)

I loved The Lost Boys The Tribe.. but they should have made The Lost Girls or that could have been another side project. But then again, rumors about The Lost Boys 3.. after 22 years later, bringing back the WHOLE ENTIRE ORIGINAL CAST! Now that, would be amazing! I've been a huge fan of The Lost Boys ever since I was 3, which was in 1993. And that just took off with my whole vampire obsession. And ever since then, The Lost Boys has a very special place in my heart, to this day. Its one of my favorite movies. I used to watch it 24/7 for months and month.

I would be like one of the most happiest people..If, they brought back the whole original gang into making the 3rd lost boys, continuing after all those years thinking David was dead.. or was thought to be dead.

Since, "The Lost Girls" was never made. And The Tribe, wasn't as great as The Lost Boys. I loved The Tribe, but nothing can compare to the first.

But, in my opinion, like I said. They should all come back.. DO IT FOR THE FANS! We love you!

I want to see both coreys, jamison, jami gertz, kiefer, jason, and diane come back! :) I hope my wish comes true..I love The Lost Boys!

This sums it up:

A continuation of the alternate endings! I was more intrigued by the alternate endings and Edgar Frog being alone in LB2 than I was about any other character and plot element of that movie. I'd like to see his brother Alan, a Master Vampire and a sexy one at that, returning to "settle things" with Edgar as said in the alternate endings.

Edgar always took vampire slaying seriously enough to think nothing of slaying someone's sibling. The Frog bros wanted Sam to stake Michael at the first opportunity, and Edgar wanted to kill Nicole. What about his twin brother?

Alan could possibly be the most deadly and badass vampire since Kiefer Sutherland played David--Alan was a vampire hunter and knows ALL the resources and tricks. Look at the Vampmobile! Only a Frog brother is that resourceful.

Seeing the "societal" or "famillial" aspect of vampires a little more too. In the alternate endings, Alan is said to be a Msater vampire. What this means for and among vampires.

Ok...The Lost Boys came out when I was about a year old but that has not stopped the obsession that took hold of me when I first saw the original movie. There was something so deliciously perfect about it. The movie has one of the best opening shots ever with the slow pan helicopter shot of the boardwalk, the soundtrack, the wardrobe, the story, the characters, everything. To this day I will still get in my car and jam out to some Lost in the Shadows, Cry Little Sister, or I Still Believe, I don't care how many strange looks I get from people when I'm stopped at a stop light. It remains to this day to be my most favorite 80's movie of all time. Period.

Now on to the travesty that was The Tribe or as I like to call it: WHAT THE F@#$ WAS THAT S@#$? Let's look at this from a rational perspective here. Not all of us have read the travesty that was the "comic" prequel to LB2. In my crazed fan joy I found it on wikipedia and read it when I found out that there was going to be a second movie come out. I was immediately appalled by a few things. The first was the fact that Grandpa was a half vampire all along. Sure it would explain how he knew about the vampires and what not but get real. Do the fictional man some justice, he's lived there probably his entire life, he's bound to know anyway. Now the really end all be all of the most disgusting revelation that I read. Alan becoming a vampire. I'll overlook the fact that I've had a crush on both Frog Brothers since I watched the movie for the first time. I cannot overlook the fact that someone who once helped his brother "trash the one that looked like twisted sister" by " totally annihilating his night stalking ass" would end up as a blood sucker. NO! Epic Sigh* The Tribe largely relied on Angus Sutherland's good looks [let's face it, he's got the same kind of appeal as Kiefer but is by no means as good of a vampire badass as him], the return of the ultimate badass vampire slayer Edgar Frog, and rabid fans such as my self to bring it into any kind of marginal success. It sickens me to think that the Hollywood disease of taking a story that came before and tweaking it to give it a new look to release to the public caught up with the mighty Lost Boys.

Now, as far as what I would like to see happen in the third movie is as follows:

1. Bring Alan back. As a human. As a vampire slayer. Get rid of the cowboy hat. Get rid of the long greasy wig. Get rid of the blood slut in the lingerie.

2. I'm not a particular Corey Haim fan for various reasons but I will not deny the fact that the man should have some sort of part to play in the new movie. I think that LB3 should open with Edgar "totally annihilating his night stalking ass." Once again proving what we already know to be fact: Edgar Frog is arguably the best vampire slayer and this is coming from a girl who watched Buffy religiously.

3. Go back to the old school make up. They'd save more money to have a sweet theater release if they cut back on stupid motorcycle tricks, dumb chase scenes, bad camera work, and shitty special effects like Jon throwing up all that blood. COME ON! Vampires are NOT supposed to look like freaking possessed dogs on steroids. I want amber/red eyes. I want limited prosthetics on the face. And I most definitely want kick ass wardrobe and hair! Not like freaking members of an abc family show suddenly became vampires and attacked.

4. Cameos from some of the original cast is always good. I love the original cast.

5. If Alan MUST be a vampire can he please, please, please eat Aunt Jillian in the most ridiculous way possible?

6. And furthermore, if he MUST be a vampire can he please get a better wardrobe? I find it hard to believe that someone who goes from wearing camo and tight muscly shirts and dog tags would end up wearing that monstrosity of an outfit. I don't care how bad ass he thinks he is, I'd stake him for that wardrobe alone.

7. Edgar Frog had better not die and her CERTAINLY better not become a vampire. Now, I understand that it would be an interesting twist that he would have to become what he hates most of all in order to stop his brother. [That is if Alan HAS to be a vampire in this next one which sadly is probably where they're going with this one.] But, this is Edgar "I hate fucking vampires" Frog.

8. Please bring back the man in the purple spandex: aka Tim Capello to play "I Still Believe" even if it's just on the radio in a scene.

9. Go back to Santa Carla. Obviously this may not be feasible because permits and licenses for filming are easier and cheaper to obtain in Canada but come on people. If you're going to have an epic Frog v. Frog battle go back to where it all started.

10. Most importantly, I want the third film to capture the same kind of magic as the first one. I want to feel the same kind of loyalty to it that I feel to the first that I have to tell all of my friends to watch it and get them as obsessed with it as we are with the first film. Listen to Kiefer. Listen to Joel. Do it right or I'm hunting someone down and as Alan put it: "first come, first staked."

1. Bring Alan back. As a human. As a vampire slayer. Get rid of the cowboy hat. Get rid of the long greasy wig. Get rid of the blood slut in the lingerie.

2. I’m not a particular Corey Haim fan for various reasons but I will not deny the fact that the man should have some sort of part to play in the new movie. I think that LB3 should open with Edgar “totally annihilating his night stalking ass.” Once again proving what we already know to be fact: Edgar Frog is arguably the best vampire slayer and this is coming from a girl who watched Buffy religiously.

3. Go back to the old school make up. They’d save more money to have a sweet theater release if they cut back on stupid motorcycle tricks, dumb chase scenes, bad camera work, and shitty special effects like Jon throwing up all that blood.

I don’t care how bad ass he thinks he is, I’d stake him for that wardrobe alone.

7. Edgar Frog had better not die and her CERTAINLY better not become a vampire. Now, I understand that it would be an interesting twist that he would have to become what he hates most of all in order to stop his brother. [That is if Alan HAS to be a vampire in this next one which sadly is probably where they're going with this one.] But, this is Edgar “I hate fucking vampires” Frog.

8. Please bring back the man in the purple spandex: aka Tim Capello to play “I Still Believe” even if it’s just on the radio in a scene.

9. Go back to Santa Carla. Obviously this may not be feasible because permits and licenses for filming are easier and cheaper to obtain in Canada but come on people. If you’re going to have an epic Frog v.

Do it right or I’m hunting someone down and as Alan put it: “first come, first staked.”

I just finished seeing tribes after avoiding it for a while, and oh my am I NOT impressed. I am however pleased with the glimmer of hope this interview brings us. I have loved the original since childhood, and I actually have to say I align myself fully with Keiffer Sutherlands viewpoint. I do wish they had not made Sam a vampire, but that train has rolled, I can only suggest that the screenwriters do their homework, listen to the fans, and really, make it more like the original. This is not a cheap moneymaker, this is one of the few vampire movies that actually has some integrity, which has been threatened by the abomination that is the tribe. I will grant you however, that is was not as bad as the Anaconda sequels. Anyways, I am rambling now, but LISTEN TO THE FANS! Get what you can from their word, and stay true to the original! I will repeat that this is NOT a franchise you can just "update" and turn into a look alike for other movies of the genre. Seriously, I am begging you, heed my words.

Maybe I'm alone but I actually liked the Tribe. I thought the storyline was good. I think they should have put a link between Keifer and Angus but they didnt. How Alan and Same became vampires will be an interesting tale. Personally, I hope it isnt a trainwreck but we have to wait for the finished product.

Instead of doing a straight up sequel how about doing a prequel to the movie that leads up to the earthquake that buried the nightclub that becomes a cave in the original Lost Boys movie. The night club could be like a haven for vampires. During the movie have some teenagers in the 1900s that are vampire hunters and kill vamps for sport.

This was a very nice interview. Thank you for getting this for us fans, Donna. And thank you, Jamison for doing an interview.

There are a few things I wish could be included in LB3:

1. As most fans believe, please bring all the Monster Bashers together. If it involves Edgar trying to get Alan back to his human state and somehow Sam either helping or hurting Edgar along the way would be fine.

2. I want to see more of the original cast. Fans love them, we should see them. Whether it be to reprise a role (but honestly David is the only one they could really bring back...) or just a cameo, it's all good. That includes Laddie or even Michael and Starr.

That's all I want and maybe a little TLC like most fans would give a new LB project. We love this franchise, we hate to see it get torn apart.

Let's return to some original ideas, folks.
